Families seek Family Therapy usually when one member or more is facing difficulties such as depression, addiction, loss of a loved one, parent child conflict and more
My work with families is relatively short term, less than six months. I usually work with those members who are most available to participate in therapy. The specific treatment plan will depend on your family’s situations and your goals set to achieve in therapy.
Together we help to identify family’s strengths, weaknesses, abilities to solve problems and express thoughts and emotions in a way that family members can be heard effectively. We will discuss and explore family’s patterns and themes, even those passed down generationally and culturally. Themes such as work, finances, marriage, divorce, parenting, illness, migration, gender roles and sexuality, social and religious values that has impacted family’s dynamics. I work together with the family to bring an empathic understanding of each other, a stronger sense of togetherness and harmony within the family.
